Shiitake Mushroom Growing Process

Angel Valley Farm is proud of its cutting edge Shiitake Mushroom growing facility. We produce the finest organic Shiitake available anywhere in the world.

Gourmet Shiitake are grown on special blocks to produce the traditional aroma and flavor of Shiitake. Only the highest quality ingredients are used to create these blocks. Oak shavings are mixed with wholesome grains, sterilized, infused with the finest Shiitake spawn and incubated. After incubation, an average block will produce 1 to 1.5 pounds of mushrooms over a 72 day period. The blocks need a narrow range of temperature and humidity and require 24 hour artificial lighting. There is no odor associated with growing Shiitake as no manure is used.

Our Shiitake are picked daily and immediately sorted by size and cooled to 34 ° F. When your order is placed, the Shiitake are hand packed with care under strict quality control guidelines so they arrive to you at the peak of freshness!
